- About Me: I am an Assistant Professor in the Health Department at SUNY Cortland. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Canisius College, a Master of Arts degree in Health Studies from the University of Alabama and a Ph.D. in Education-Health Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. I am a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and I have permanent K-12 teaching certifications in Health Education and Physical Education. My research focus is on the development of a platform to host a comprehensive health promotion website/application, as a disruptive technology, to foster a sustained behavioral change with limitations on high attrition rates. In parallel, I am involved in evolving teaching strategies to support school health education pedagogy and school based social emotional learning (SEL) initiatives. Specifically, the inclusion of the dimensions of wellness, theory-based belief/norms objectives and the development of social emotional competence in primary, secondary and higher education groups.
