Emily Quinlan, Advisement and Transition, presented “Transforming the Transfer Student Experience: A Fluid and Dynamic Approach to Advocacy, Support and Services” at the New York State Transfer and Articulation Association (NYSTAA) conference, held May 22-24 in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Jeremy Jimenez

Jeremy Jimenez, Foundations and Social Advocacy Department, along with former SUNY Cortland alumni Tova Wilensky ’00, were awarded the Victor Kobayashi Award for Best Published Paper in 2020 for their article “‘It’s my responsibility’: perspectives on environmental justice and education for sustainability among international school students in Singapore,” published in International Studies in Sociology of Education. The award is aimed at research that shows promise of making a significant contribution towards existing theory, policy or practice in the fields of international and comparative education while also addressing issues concerning sustainability and environmental education. 

Genevieve Birren

Genevieve Birren, Sport Management Department, gave two presentations, "The United States attempt to Regulate Transwomen Athlete Participation Globally" and "The Escalating Conflict between the U.S. and WADA" at the Play the Game conference in Tampere, Finland, held on Oct. 5-8, 2025."

Tyler Bradway

Tyler Bradway, English Department, had his essay, “What Constitutes a Family? Don't Ask Conservatives,” co-written with Elizabeth Freeman, published in The Nation on Aug. 30. 

Christopher D. Gascón

Christopher D. Gascón, Modern Languages Department, will have his review article published in the spring issue of the journal Comedia Performance in March. Written in collaboration with colleague Laura Vidler, U.S. Military Academy, the article reviews and analyzes four plays from the Spanish Golden Age staged at Repertorio Español in New York City last summer.

Kathryn Kramer

Kathryn Kramer, Art and Art History Department, will have her article “Flanerie’s Art and Measure of the Urbanizing Global” published in the December issue of the journal Visual Resources.

Michelle Cryan

Michelle Cryan, Publications and Electronic Media Office, was the sketchnoter at the recent TEDxCortland Conference held Oct. 25. Her sketchnotes can be viewed online on the TEDxCortland Facebook page.

Juan Diego Prieto

Juan Diego Prieto, Political Science Department, presented at the SUNY Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice in the Curriculum Conference: Building a Community of Practice conference, held Nov. 3 and 4 at the University at Albany. His presentation was titled “From Family and Community to the Global (and Back Again): A Writing Assignment on Lived Experiences of Political Economy.”
